Forest Signal is a finely milled, biologically active chitin amendment crafted to support flower expression, aromatic intensity, and surface resin development.

Formulated from four distinct natural chitin sources — black soldier fly frass, cricket frass, mealworm frass, and shrimp shell — Forest Signal delivers a broad spectrum of biological signals similar to those found in healthy forest soils.

Plants naturally interpret chitin as an indicator of microbial and insect activity. In response, they may activate Induced Systemic Resistance (ISR), a natural process linked to increased production of protective secondary metabolites such as resins, trichomes, and aromatic compounds.

Forest Signal is designed for water-in or soil application and performs best in biologically active systems during the flowering phase.

Key Benefits
Supports resin flow, terpene synthesis, and trichome density
Multi-source chitin for broader biological signalling
Includes humic & fulvic acids for improved soil and root-zone interaction
Fine powder for easy dispersion in water
Compatible with soil, living soil, coco, and select hydroponic systems
Crafted in small batches in New Zealand

Chitin Sources
Black Soldier Fly Frass
Cricket Frass
Mealworm Frass
Shrimp Shell

How It Works
Chitin and chitin-derived compounds are naturally recognised by plants as biological signals. When present in the root zone, these compounds can encourage plants to allocate resources toward defensive and structural responses.
In flowering plants, this signalling is commonly associated with:
Increased trichome coverage
Enhanced resin production
Improved terpene expression
Humic and fulvic acids support dispersion and activity in the rhizosphere, helping Forest Signal integrate smoothly into existing grow programs.

Directions for Use
Application Method
Water-in / root-zone drench
Mix Rate
0.25–0.5 g per litre of water
Timing
Early to mid flower
Apply every 7–14 days

Best Practices
Apply to already moist media
Agitate solution well before and during application
Fine particles will remain suspended rather than fully dissolving

Growing Media Compatibility
✔ Living soil & no-till
✔ Soil & soilless media
✔ Coco coir (use lower rate)
⚠ Certain hydroponic systems (direct root-zone application only)
Not intended for continuous use in sterile or fully recirculating hydroponic reservoirs.

Recommended Pairing
For best results, alternate applications with Forrest Ferments – Fermented Insect Frass + Chitosan.
This pairing provides:
Solid-phase chitin for sustained biological signalling
Soluble chitosan for faster plant response
Used together, they support layered activation throughout the flowering cycle.

Ingredients
Insect frass (black soldier fly, cricket, mealworm), shrimp shell, humic acids, fulvic acids
